The nylon plate is unique in that it is much more flexible than a carbon fiber plate, making the Endorphin Speed 2 a great shoe for those we are just getting started running in a plated shoe. Within the PWRRUN PB foam is a full-length nylon plate that creates the stiffness you need to generate forward momentum without any added weight. I’m looking for shoes that protects my feet with the least ground feel while I take long strides with as much energy return as possible. The whole shoe is built on a bed of PWRRUN PB midsole foam that delivers endless energy return while providing the cushion you need for efficient landings. Personally, I’m light, tall and like to run fast. I guess it depends on what you are looking for, how much you weight and how you run. Not a bad thing per say since the Turbo 2 used to be my favourite shoes.īut since I started using Nike Zoom Fly 3 and Tempo Next% as daily trainers (and Vaporfly and Alphafly for races) … the Turbo 2 and the rest feel meh. Sure, they felt light but they were not as “springly” as I’m used to I guess, I felt they lacked arch support, they were a bit too mushy and I had achilles pain resulting from the back of the shoe being too tall and curving in toward my achilles, causing unnecessary pressure on the tendon. They are so popular, I was expecting some kind of novelty. I tried the Speed today and I was not impressed. I own over 25 pairs of running shoes, including turbo 2 and Novablast. Unpopular opinion here : these shoes are overrated This did not influence the outcome of this review, written after running more than 50 miles in them. We purchased a pair of Saucony Endorphin Speed from runningwarehouse using our own money. This is a shoe I will keep in rotation and keep running in until they give out. The big drawback is the grip, but frankly the incredible upside from the shoes make me get past that. At $160, I don’t know that there is a better daily trainer out there.
These are paces I haven’t seen in more than a year, and they felt natural. When I wanted to up the pace, I easily maintained a tempo run in the Speeds at 7:15/mi pace.
During my 80+ miles in the Speeds, my average mile was 9:05 with the same effort. The Engerys were good shoes and very responsive, however, I averaged 9:30-9:40 miles in them. When I compare these to the last shoe I tested, the Reebok Floatride Energy 2, it was night and day. However, when I say they want to go fast, I do not mean that all of the sudden a 10:00/mi runner will be pulling off 6:00/mi. Once I got my form down, the shoes locked in and pushed me forward at paces I haven’t seen since before my Achilles injury. The transition from your strike to toe off to knee drive and repeat just locks you in. If you shuffle run, or run with low foot clearance, you’ll need to focus on a high knee drive and push off the ground.

These shoes need you to run in a certain form, and I found that it took me a few runs, not to break them in but, to learn how to run in these shoes. The next thing is learning to run in them. I was still able to run on a rainy day, but it was not the most fun experience in the world. The biggest flaw to me is the grip on wet surfaces. But those flaws are the type I can get over. Again, I have a hard time not just gushing over this shoe.
